Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Joseph Batstone on Thursday, July 2nd, 2009, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 72 years. Leaving to mourn is his loving companion, Muriel Brake; daughter: Beverley (Colin) Allan; son, David (Susan); daughter, Lorraine Batstone (Brian Willett), Stephenville; son, Stephen (Tammy); grandchildren: Justin, Charmaine, McKenna and Jasmine; brother: George (Margaret), Cormack; sister, Dorothy Hounsell, Dartmouth; brother, James (Angela); sister-in-law: Emily Batstone as well as nieces, nephews, and special friends. Predeceased by his wife Marilyn; mother and father: Kenneth and Selena Batsone; son: Brian; brother: Fred and sister: Kathleen Locke; brothers-in-law: Chesley Hounsell and Roy Locke. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Sunday 10-12 Noon. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5th at 2:00 PM from Humber United Church, Clarence Street. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Daffodil Place or to the Humber United Church Memorial Fund.
