The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Thursday, January 27, 2011, of Joseph "Leslie" McCarvill of Parkhill Place and formerly of Kinkora, age 87 years.
Born in Freetown, he was the son of the late Alphonsus and Margaret (Deighan) McCarvill. Survived by his beloved wife Joan (Johnston) and loving children Brian (Ruth) of Summerside, Gary of Calgary, Ronnie of Kensington, Mary (Kent) MacKay of Miscouche, Darryl of Calgary; grandchildren Kirk (Christine) of Edmonton; Brad (Mindy) of Summerside; Evan and Courtney of Black Hills, Alberta; Sean, Brian, Katie and Melissa MacKay of Miscouche; and Delaney of Pictou, N.S.; great-grandchildren, Alex and Addison of Edmonton; and very special friend, Shirley (Vic) Diorio of Montreal. Also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Josee McCarvill, Jean McCarvill, Pat (Johnston), Gilbert, George (Pat) Johnston, Willard (Anna) Johnston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Les was predeceased by two sons in infancy, Joseph Leslie Jr. and John Clifford; siblings, Doris (Mrs. Leo Greenan), Florence (Mrs. Roy Stackhouse), Eunice (Mrs. Justin McIvor), Elmer, Gerald and twin brother Celes; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and Vernon Johnston, Pauline (Johnston) Alsop and Ruth (Johnston) Dempsey.
Remains resting at Lawless Funeral Home, 21 Somerset St., Kinkora. Funeral Tuesday, February 1, at St. Malachy's Church, Kinkora, for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment later in parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ParkHill Place Residency Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Visiting hours Monday, January 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
