Robert L. Lingenfelter of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan beloved husband of the late Mary Veronica Lingenfelter (Harty) passed away at the Shaunavon Hospital & Care Centre on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the age of 93. Robert was born at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on November 10, 1917. He completed his schooling at Pilot School north of Shaunavon. He began farming with his step father and then bought the farm from his mother in 1967. Robert married Veronica Harty in 1939 and together they had nine children. They remained on the farm where Robert continued farming with his sons Gordon and Dwain, selling the farm to Dwain in 1979 and then moving into Shaunavon in 1987. Robert was a member of Maple Leaf Hall, was a lineman for the Maple Leaf Rural Telephone Company, a member of the Shaunavon Coop and the Shaunavon Credit Union. He was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He treasured his independence and lived in his own home, caring for his yard and driving his car right up until his last year. Robert was a strong supporter of the CCF and NDP. He was a member of the Shaunavon Senior's Association where he spent time playing pool and shuffleboard. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, golfing and horseback riding. Robert also enjoyed travelling and particularly trips to Arizona. He was very family oriented, spending time with his family at Maple Leaf Hall for picnics and dances. The family formed the Instow ball team and spent time at Instow Lake, skating in the winter and swimming in the summer. He loved golfing and enjoyed golfing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren. Robert leaves to cherish his memory his children, Terry Lingenfelter, Janice Harty, Dwain (Rubiela) Lingenfelter, Mary (Jim) Coller, Delana (Barry) Floberg, Cheryl Chelle, 28 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his wife Mary Veronica, son Gordon Lingenfelter, daughters Bonita Lingenfelter and Lynda Piquette, son-in-law Jerry Piquette, two grandchildren Sheldon Harty and Patrick Piquette. Funeral Mass was celebrated at Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Father John Mock officiating. Interment took place at St. Mary's R. C. Cemetery at Shaunavon. Prayer Services were held from Christ the King Church on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Binkley's Funeral Service (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
