Suddenly, but peacefully, passed away in her sleep at Granite Ridge Nursing Home, Stittsville ON, Sunday 30 January 2011 in her 94th year. Loved and devoted wife of LCdr (Ret'd) William Glyndwr Powell until his passing in 2006. Caring Mother of LCdr (Ret'd) Richard Powell (Cathy) Dartmouth, NS; Susan Baker (Tom) Carleton Place ON; and Gordon Powell (Wendy) Almonte, ON. Cherished Grandmother to Jennifer, Justin and Jordan Powell, Jody Baker, and Chelsea Powell. Daughter of the late Walter Paley and Clara Esser. Sister of Evelyn Callaway (Jewis), predeceased by her stepbrother Dennis Jewis. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Birmingham England on 12 February 1917 Norah immigrated to Canada in May 1923 passing through Pier 21 in Halifax to Saint John, NB where the family settled.
