1912 - 2011 - Gladys Mary Jardine passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, February 1st, 2011. Born in Millerton, NB on February 23rd, 1912, she was the daughter of the late George and Bridgette (Hackett) Langan. She was a long time member of Wesley Memorial United Church. One of her greatest pleasures was reading her bible, having read it seven times from cover to cover. She taught school for four years but spent many years teaching her children and grandchildren by example. Forrest and Gladys were married for 33 years moving to Moncton from the Miramichi and building their home on Waverley Avenue where she lived until her death. Gladys spent many pleasurable hours beating anyone who would challenge her to scrabble or cards (canasta was a favorite). Her greatest times were spent with her family, pot luck suppers, birthday parties, taking trips and just visiting. Mom left a wonderful legacy of love and commitment for her family including a letter "To My Beloved Family". She will be sadly missed by her many friends and extended family. Gladys is survived by her 5 children; Lindon (Joan), Sterling (Joan), Phyllis Thompson (Harold), Faye Hicks (Otis), Rick (Lynn), 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and five great grand children. In addition to her parents and her husband Forrest, she was predeceased by her step-mother Bessie (MacEachern), sisters Annie, Grace and Hazel, brothers Henry and Cecil and two infant grandchildren. Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Friday, February 4th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5th, at 11:00 am in the chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Philip G. A. Griffin-Allwood officiating. Family flowers only. A reception will follow in the Garden View Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
