Archey Lyle Getty passed away peacefully on February 3, 2011 at age 82, surrounded by his family. He was raised on the Getty homestead at Archydal and married Eleanor (Brown). Archey and Eleanor farmed until 1992 and celebrated 60 years of marriage last April. He was an avid curler, loved to dance and looked forward to hunting in the fall. An active volunteer in the local community, Archey was a life member of the Elks, Masonic Lodge, and Shrine Club. He was predeceased by parents Robert and Olina Getty, sisters Margery and Roberta and grandson James. He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor; his sister Leone Newton; and his children: daughter Cheryl (Doug) Bruce; grandchildren: Tyler (Madhavi), Kylie and Steven; daughter Arlene; grandson Ritchard; son Robert (Lorrie); grandchildren: Alana (Sean) Somers; great-grandson Callum Archey; Kendra (Jonathan); and Daniel; son Murray (Vanessa); grandchildren: Steven, Danielle and Michael. A private family service was held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, S7K 2H8 or the Shriners Patient Travel Fund, 1767 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6, would be appreciated.
