Alice P. Pierce, age 98, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2011. Born in Amawalk, N.Y. She was raised on Staten Island, N.Y. where her father was farm superintendent of Sailors Snug Harbor. It was there that she met her husband of 70 years, Marshall, and they raised their three children. Each year her time was spent in East Sable and either New York or Florida. Alice cherished time with her children, grandchildren, other family and friends. She was devoted to the Sable River Women's Auxiliary, the East Sable-Port LeHebert Sewing Circle and churches in various locations. Survivors include: children: John M. Pierce, Richmond, Mass., Marsha L. Cox (Bill), Morrisville, Vt., and Hugh A. Pierce (Trisha), Jericho, Vt.. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Marshall and Christopher Pierce, Jody and Tim Cox, Hugh and Alison Pierce, nieces and nephews, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. A woman of great faith, love, wisdom, and a mentor to many, she is deeply missed. Alice and Marshall will be laid to rest in the East Sable Community Cemetery, date to be announced.
