Weatherbed, Sheila Grace — age 84, of Falmouth, Hants County, came into this world on Oct. 18, 1926, at Sweets Corner, Hants County, Nova Scotia, as the oldest daughter of the late Gerald and Grace (Ellis) Cochrane. Sheila has taken the journey to meet her late husband, Harold, on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by family. By doing so, she left behind her daughters who she cherished, Anne (Roger) Keddy, Melanson; Barb Weatherbed, at home in Falmouth; Janet Dunfield, Falmouth. She was a loving sister to, Mae (Carl) Atwell, Windsor; Maxine (Harry) Watson, Walton; and Donna (Richard) Smith, Falmouth; brothers, Eric (Kathy) Cochrane, Brooklyn; and John (Marie) Cochrane, Falmouth. Sheila was one of the best Nana’s to grandchildren, Kathy O’Leary, Meghan Dunfield and her little man, Devan Dunfield. She is also survived by her step sisters, Bette (Art) Williams, Windsor Forks; Marg (Doug) Raney, Halifax; Muriel (Jim) Cross, Windsor; Lorna (Criss) Jones, Windsor; step brother, Ernie (Ellen) Caldwell, Halifax. Besides her parents, Gerald and Grace (Ellis) Cochrane; Sheila was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Harold Charles Weatherbed (Oct. 27, 1982); by her son-in-law, Peter Dunfield (Sept. 13, 2010). In her early years, she enjoyed getting dressed up, her hair just the right way, and with her lipstick on. She also loved to go dancing with her husband and didn’t care where she was as long as her beloved family was by her side. She had a wonderful sense of humour, with a great smile to go with it. One could always find her in her chair with her scratch tickets or bingo cards. She will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. There was no visitation by request. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Bill Gibson and Kim Burke-Cole officiated. A private family interment was held in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street, Windsor.
