Marilyn LeFurgey
Marilyn D. LeFurgey, 65 years of age, of Amherst, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre after a long battle with cancer. Born in Sackville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Gerald & Beulah (Cole) Ward.
Marilyn was a member of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church where she was a member of the church choir for 27 years. She was a member of the Red Hatters, a member of the Lord Amherst I.O.D.E. Lodge (of which she was a two time Volunteer of the Year), was a member of the Citation Indians trailer club. She belonged to the Senior dart league, the Senior's 325 bowling club, was a member of Trefoil and was previously treasurer for the Girl Guides.
Marilyn will be sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, Joe; sons, Todd of Moncton & Zachary of Amherst; daughter Amanda of Amherst; best friend Ralph McKay of Amherst; five grandchildren & several cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother in law Alice LeFurgey.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home,667-8777. The family will receive visitors at the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Marilyn's memorial service will be held at Trinity St. Stephen's United Church on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring.
No flowers by request. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the CRHCC, or to the charity of your choice.
