Margaret Best

She was born in Saint John, NB, March 26, 1916 and passed away at Simcoe Manor, Beeton on February 23, 2011. Loved mother of Edythe Shand(Ian), Nancy Fraser (Jim), Faith Irving, Sandra Dunstan (Grant), Bonnie Looby (Dale), Ralph (Gail) and Wayne. Survived by her sister Muriel Walton of Saint John and her daughter in law Robin of Perry Point, NB. Margaret was predeceased by her husband James (my Jimmy), her son James Clifford, son-in-law Bill Irving, daughter-in-law Rhea Best, sister Helen, brothers Cedric and Clifford. Our mother was very dear to us and will be deeply missed by all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mom was active in St. John's Untied Church, Alliston while she was able and was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 171, where she served as President for a number of years. She was also a volunteer at Contact in Alliston for 15 years and a volunteer driver for the Red Cross. Mom and Dad were elected Citizens of the month by the Alliston Herald. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Simcoe Manor, Nottawasaga Wing for their loving care given to our mother during the 5 years she was a resident there.
Cremation has taken place and interment will be in Saint John at a later date. A memorial service will be held in St. John's United Church, Alliston on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 1 p.m. with reception to follow in the church hall.
