It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Evelyn McCracken (Boone), peacefully in her sleep on 27 February, 2011, at Extendicare Oshawa Nursing Home, in Ontario, at the age of 89. Born in Fredericton, NB on 4 February, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Byron Boone and the late Mabel Hicks. Ruth was a long-time member of the Legion Auxiliary, Gladstone Branch and a long-time resident of Fredericton Junction, where she worked as a town clerk and as a health care clerk/receptionist. Ruth is survived by two sisters, Mima McLellan and Viva Straub; one daughter, Barbara McCracken of Cobourg, Ontario, and one son, Colin McCracken, of Toronto, Ontario. She is also survived by two grandchildren; Kimberley Smith Maynard (Michael Maynard) and Lisa Smith, and two great-grandchildren; Brennan Maynard and Tyla Crowhurst-Smith. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey McCracken. There will be no visitation by request of the family but a Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville.
