1919 - 2011
Mabel M. McRorie passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 2, 2011 at the age of 91. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her devoted husband Eric; children Guy (Karen), Terry (Jean), John, Elizabeth (Dave), Kate (Brian); 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Mabel was born in Melfort, SK. She and Eric met in England while they were both serving in WWII. In 1946 they returned to Avonlea to run McRorie Bros. Red and White Store. Mabel loved her family and community and was involved in many activities. We would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Coteau Range Manor. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Avonlea United Church on March 12, 2011 at 1:30pm. Rev. Marilyn Keerak will officiate. For those so wishing memorial donations can be made to the Village of Avonlea, c/o Coteau Manor, Box 60, Avonlea, S0H 0C0 or Avonlea United Church, Avonlea, S0H 0C0. Interment will take place in the spring at Hillcrest Cemetery. In living memory of Mabel, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
