Ruth Vivian Cox was born in 1923 to parents Everilda Bruce and John Couldwell. She had three sisters and two brothers – Lee (Horace Hunt), Gladys (Collin Adams), Phylis (Alan Mackie) Gordon (Laura Bannerman), and Doyle (Illa Weaver). She joined the armed forces in 1941 to 1946 where she met and married Clarence Hewitt. To this union one child was born – daughter Sharon. Clarence passed away in 1980. Later in her life, Ruth married Art Cox who also predeceased her. Ruth also had employment as a private secretary in Ontario, cooking in the north and working for the Government of Canada. Ruth loved dancing and music. She enjoyed picking wild strawberries, saskatoons and whatever berries she could find. Ruth loved to travel. She went on several trips including the Yukon, Spain, and Alaska. She also joined Sharon and her family traveling to the USA. She was a bowler and liked exercising and swimming. She also loved camping and fishing. Ruth entered into rest on February 26, 2011. Ruth is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sharon and Joe Korecki; grandchildren - Cindy (Mel) Lozinski, Mark (Carrie) Korecki, Scott (Andrea) Korecki; great grandchildren – Nathan and Melissa Lozinski, Kennedy and Jayda Korecki, Matthew and Anna Korecki. The funeral service was held from the Royal Canadian Legion Auditorium in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Sandy Scott officiating. Ruth was laid to rest in South Hill Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to Jubilee Lodge in Kinistino, SK. The family placed their trust with Coventry Funeral Services of Nipawin, SK 862-4233.
