Joseph Denis Arsenault, age 78, Port Hawkesbury, NS, formerly of Whiteside, passed away peacefully in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, March 10, 2011, surrounded by the love of close family and friends. Born in St. Felix, PE, on July 14, 1932, he was a son of the late Urban and Exzelia Arsenault. Completing military service from 1952 to 1955, he moved, with his family to Toronto in 1955, then to Whiteside in 1966. He was employed at Nova Scotia Forest Industries/Stora as an instrument technician for many years. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” and “Master of All”, and possessed an insatiable appetite for knowledge, endlessly contributing to community organizations and fellow neighbours. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his beloved wife, May Mary; brothers Paul, Henry, Andrew and Raymond, and sisters Rose and Stella. He is survived by his children Debbie of Brampton (Ontario), Beverley of Auld’s Cove, Michael (Marie) of Bible Hill, Bruce of Halifax, Carolyn (Julie) of Ketch Harbour and Penny (Ted) of Ottawa, Ontario; grandchildren Michelle, Denis, Chenine, Melissa, Tammy, Sherry, Ashley, Daniel and nine great-grandchildren, as well as his second wife Joan. He always wanted to be a “university graduate” and will now get his wish. At his request, his remains have been donated to Dalhousie University Medical Department. A memorial service was held in St. Francis de Sales Parish in Lower River, with a celebration of his life which followed in Riverdale Community Centre, Lower River.
