1914 - 2011

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Dorothy on March 15, 2011 at the Kamloops Seniors Village.

Dorothy was born in Vancouver in 1914. She moved to the Yukon in 1950 and really fell in love with its beauty and all the people living there who became so special to her. She was such a presence for lots of the residents and friends there. In 1958 she bought the Carcross Hotel, known as the Caribou Hotel. Dorothy really loved the social side of the Hotel and the bar; she had made so many friends in the community. While living there, Dorothy met her husband Don. He helped her run the business until they sold it and retired to Whitehorse in 1980. In 2007 Dorothy and Don moved to Kamloops and stayed with special friends, who she considered as family.

Dorothy will be remembered by friends: Donna (Jim) Masson, their children: Marla (John) Reed, Will (Tammy) Masson; her special great grandchildren Jessie, Wyatt, Sedona and Kyler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Don predeceased Dorothy in 2009.
She had lived at Ponderosa Lodge and then finally Kamloops Seniors Village.

We wish to express our sincere thank you to all the nurses and staff at both places for their attention and care for Dorothy over the years.
