James Morris
With much sadness the family of James W. Morris, age 67, of River Hebert announce his sudden passing at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
Born in Hamilton, ON, he was a son of the late Darrell & Audrey (Hounsome) Morris.
Jim served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1962 to 1985. He was an active member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 14, River Hebert being Past President, Service Officer and Vice President. An active community minded person, he served as councillor for River Hebert and Joggins, was board member of Heritage Models and was involved with the Bridge Workshop, Amherst. He was a member of the River Hebert and Joggins Area Development Association and was recently awarded a 19 year Appreciation Award as a Volunteer with the Correctional Services, Canada.
Jim will be sadly missed by his wife, Ruth (McIver); 4 children, Andy, Regina, SK, Janet (TJ Wood), River Hebert, Dawn (Mark Robertson), St. Williams, ON and Paul (Kyla), Tidnish, NS; 5 Grandchildren, Justina Morris, Josh Wood, Heidi and Justin Wood and Colby MacWilliams; brother and sisters, Jane (Jim) Yule, Jacqueline (Lynn) (Greg) Mattinson and Peter (Sandra) Morris. He was predeceased by sister Joan and brothers, Alfred and Darrell.
Jim’s remains have been cremated under the care and direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert (251.2877). A memorial service will be held at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 14, River Hebert on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Joggins United Church, River Hebert Legion, or a charity of the donor’s choice, gratefully accepted. www.furlongjones.ca
