Helen Chapman
Helen Louise Chapman, age 95, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Monday, March 28, 2011.
Born in Amherst Head, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Iva (Chapman) Greeno.
Helen served during World War II with the Canadian Air Force, returning to work as a homemaker, and at the Dry Cleaning and finally at Canada Car before marrying Russell. She raised 11 foster children in her early years. She loved her flowers and to garden, and spending time with her cats and knitting.
She will be dearly missed by foster children, Richard (Wanda) D'Orsay, Amherst, Alfie (Debbie) O'Brien, Amherst, Ronnie (Claire) O'Brien, Ottawa; 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; foster brother Elden (Shirley) Porter, Amherst.
She was predeceased by her husband Russell, and foster daughter Rosanne Voss, brother George.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS. In keeping with Helen's wishes, no funeral service will be held at this time. A public graveside service will be announced in the spring.
