GLEN MILLER

GLEN MILLER

Date de décès : 25 février 2011

Glen Allen Miller of Gravelbourg, SK passed away suddenly on February 25, 2011, in Anaheim, CA, at the age of 70 years. Glen was born in Gravelbourg on July 19, 1940. He grew up and worked on the family farm 12 miles northeast of Gravelbourg. When Glen was 16 years old, he bought his first quarter of land from Robert Burkett and farmed with his dad and Uncle Norman. In 1964 Glen married the love of his life Paulette Lefrancois, daughter of Herve and Yvette Lefrancois. During their 47-year marriage they were blessed with four children, Shelley, Robert, Nancy and Roger. In 1965 Glen and his brothers Morris and Bruce took over the family farm. They expanded
the farm and continued to work together for many years. Glen was involved in many clubs and groups in Gravelbourg area and had a large circle of friends and acquaintances, but his real passions were family and farming. He was a very fun, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, as well as a natural born farmer. Very giving of his time and talents, Glen patiently taught many of us what we know about life, nature, farming, hunting, and more. Well-read, level headed and full of common sense, he could hold a lively discussion with almost anyone on any subject, or give you good, sound advice on any problem you had. Glen gave so much of himself without expecting anything in return. Glen also had a strong interest in local and family history. And then there was his greatest pride and joys, his grandchildren all whom will miss him dearly. Grandpa was famous for the little quips he had for everyone. It wasn't unusual for the kids to be greeted by grandpa with the usual running joke he had with each grandchild. But the city folk as they were affectionately known, were always greeted with a warm smile. A wise man once said, "Our death is not an end if we can live in our children and the younger generation." Glen is survived by his loving wife Paulette (nee Lefrancois); daughter Shelley (Steve) Firth, grandchildren Tracy, Kimberly, Haley, and Carly; son Robert (Arlisse) grandchildren Amber, Chris, Ashley, Chase and Chloe; daugher Nancy (Jim) Costley, grandchildren Brooke, Dylan, Avery and Shay; son Roger (Annette) grandchildren Brittney, Alyssa, and Cody; great grandchildren Spencer and Alicia. Predeceased by this father Harry in 1988, his mother Ethel (nee Gingell) in 2010, brother in law Gethyn Grant and sister in law Doris Miller. Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK with Reverend Linda Tomlinson officiant. The eulogy was shared by Rita Neigel (sister of Paulette). Special Music by Gilles Francoeur (cousin of Paulette), Urn Bearer was son Roger Miller. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Glen's life." Memorial tributes in memory of Glen because of his love of children to the Children's Wish Foundation Saskatchewan Chapter, P.O. Box 309, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3L3. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Piche-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Assiniboia & Gravelbourg.
