It is with deep sadness that we are announcing the sudden passing of our loving mother, mom, mudders, nannie, sister, aunt and friend. Barbara, age 67, passed away at Glace Bay General Hospital on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Delores (Dunlop) Porter.
As a wonderful mother and homemaker; Barbara was one of the many moms in the North Street area who treated all the community children as her own. She was full of fun and with her husband provided a wonderful home for their children to grow up in. She enjoyed doing many things, but what she truly loved the most was spending time with her wonderful husband, Gerry. As people know they were inseparable and will continue to be as their hearts have and will forever remain joined.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Lynette (Adrian) MacLean; sons, Leslie (Tracy) and Thomas (Amanda); her three loving grandchildren, Kailey MacLean, Madden McDonald and Kai McDonald; brothers, Robert (Annette), Darryl (Sandra), Donnie, Les and sister in-law, Brenda. She will also be sadly missed by many loving nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Besides her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by her husband, Gerry McDonald and her brother, Walter.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Interment will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association.
