It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Elizabeth MacLeod, on Monday, May 29, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in Florence on June 10, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Pius and Elizabeth (Walsh) Pero. Audrey was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, William (Bill) MacLeod (Linda). Also left to mourn are her grandchildren; Alesha, Stephanie, Jennifer and Matthew, as well as her great-granddaughters, Emma and Sophie. Audrey will be missed by her sisters, Zola MacIntosh, and Sheila (Ron) Lyle; her brother, James (Patsy) Pero, sister-in-law, Eileen MacLellan, and her best friend, Pat MacLeod. Besides her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband, John D. MacLeod, sisters, Edna Simms, Colleen Chapman and Mammie Cousins; brothers, Caddy and Langelle Pero, and two siblings in infancy. Thank you to Dr. Eugene Ignacio and the staff of 4 East for their care. Visitation for Audrey MacLeod will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017, from 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place Friday at 11a.m. in the funeral home, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
