It is with deep sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of John Aloysius Currie, age 84, on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Currie.
John was a former member of St. John’s Church, Glace Bay. In his younger years he enjoyed playing cards, baseball and doing art work, he also spent time on the Currie farm in East Bay. John loved spending time with his family and was known to have a good sense of humor.
John is survived by his sister, Theresa, Windsor, Nova Scotia; brother, Ron, Glace Bay and Danny, Ontario.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his sisters, Mae, Alice, Frances, Cleo; brothers, Thomas, Michael; brother-in-law, Tom Ford; sister in-law, Myrna MacLeod. At the request of the family, visitation and funeral services are private. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.Memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
