On March 20, 1940, Flossie and George Macey of Red Bay, Labrador became the proud parents of a baby girl they named Phoebe Geneva. At the age of 16 she moved to St. Anthony to work with the Grenfell Mission and later on she went to work with Fishery Products until she retired in 1991. In 1957 Phoebe married Wilson Simms of St. Anthony and together they raised one son and two daughters. Phoebe died on June 2nd .Phoebe leaves to mourn with fond memories her son Jerry (Triffie); daughters Judy and Mandy; grandchildren Brandi, Lorne, Melissa and Jeremy; great-grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Damien, Megan, Zoe, Layla and Anna; special nieces Eleanor McLean, Beryl Pilgrim; brothers Hayward (Margaret), Hubert (Annie); sisters Jane (Nelson), Ivy (Theodore), Hilda (Ian), and her best friend Blanche Strickland as well as a large circle of extended relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father George, father Walter Ryan, mother Flossie, husband Wilson and her brother Albert. Visitation was held at Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes until the funeral on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony with Captain Brown officiating. Interment followed. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, St Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard funeral director.
