SAULNIER, Elize John – age 80, Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 12, 2017 at home. Born September 20, 1936 in Pinkney’s Point, he was a son of Adele Saulnier, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle, and the late Enos Saulnier. Elize worked as a boat builder for some time, but his true passion was working on the sea, whether he was lobster fishing, seining, dragging or sword fishing and during his summers off, he went apple-picking for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed league bowling and hunting. Aside from his mother, Adele, he is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth M. (Doucet) Saulnier, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage a week ago. Together they had four children, Glenda (Kenney) Surette, Melbourne; Ronnie (Diane) Saulnier, Melbourne; Beverly (Aldric) LeBlanc, Arcadia and Patsy Muise, Melbourne. Also surviving are grandchildren, Melissa, Allison, Katelyn, Matthew and Michael; great grandchildren, Madison, Marissa and Lincoln and sisters, Geraldine (Gilbert) Pothier, Pinkney’s Point; Ruth Doucette, Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle and Florence (Leroy) Legere, Pinkney’s Point. Aside from his father, Enos, he was predeceased by brothers Clifford and Joseph. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday with a prayer vigil at 8 p.m. at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. Mass of Christian Burial took place at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 15 from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Melbourne, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice.
