Shirley Hawley of Chapel Drive passed away early Monday morning after a long illness. Shirley was born in Glace Bay in 1928, the daughter of Jimmy Kenny and Nellie MacDonald. After high school Shirley worked for The T. Eaton Company and in 1956 she married Alan Hawley who predeceased her in 1997. She is survived by a sister, Yvonne Scattolon and brothers, Allister and Roy. As per Shirley's request, there will be no visitation. The Funeral, under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home (902-849-7617), will be held at St. Anne's Church on Thursday at 10 a.m. A reception will follow in the church foyer.
