NEILL, Ronald "Ron" Harold - July 17, 1931 - Cornwall, Ontario June 21, 2017 - Calgary, Alberta Ron beloved husband of the late Beverley Neill (nee Pickering) of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Ron was injured in January 1951, working as an apprentice pipefitter for Vipond Automatic Sprinklers. The accident left him a paraplegic and confined him to a wheelchair. While undergoing rehabilitation at Lyndhurst Lodge, he met a girl, Beverly Pickering. In 1955 they married and spend the next 52 years together until Bev passed in 2007. Ron was licenced as a stock broker in 1965 and in 1968 became manager of a branch office of Hector Chisholm & Company in Toronto, a position he held until his retirement in 1988. Ron was an amateur musician playing saxophone, guitar, bass guitar, harmonica and for the last 9 years, ukulele in Peter and Pals band, entertaining at senior's homes and care centres in and around Calgary. Ron is survived by his three sisters, Rita Jean Dowson of Calgary, Norma Grace Potter of Cambridge, Ontario and Carol Diane Hawking of Onanole, Manitoba. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Hazel and Lawrence Neill of Cornwall, Ontario. A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held at Glenmeadow Gardens (Social Room, 2850 - 51 Street S.W., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Overflow Parking available at Emmanuel Church (South of Glenmeadow Gardens) Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
