It is with peacefulness and many cherished memories that we share the passing of our family matriarch. Our mother, Nona, Bisnona and Zia passed away surrounded by the love and presence of her family on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in her 102nd year of life.
Anna was born March 3, 1915 in Dominion and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Giaconda (Zaniol) Ravanello, Treviso, Italy.
Left to carry on are her children, Livio (Carole), Dominion, their children, Annette, Rodney, Angela; Norma (Bob Cooke), Halifax, their children, Elizabeth, Christopher; Rina (Greg Gouthro), Reserve Mines, their children, Leigha, Gregory, Brennan; Rita (Jim Tompkins), Tanglewood, Sydney, their children, Hilary, James; son-in-law, Junior Anthony, Kennetcook, Fulvio's (Fern), children, Louise, Gina, Lynn, Michelle; Marie's children, Frank, Carol, Stephen, Gina; great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many caring nieces and nephews who will all miss their Zia dearly.
Anna was a homemaker, a role in which she excelled. She raised her six children with unconditional love and devotion. She was genuine, loving and a friend. Cooking and baking was her form of nurturing, communication and love, we will continue this legacy.
Anna was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Nona and Bisnona. She was a former member of St. Eugene's Parish, Dominion. Anna was the eldest and last surviving founding member of the Italian Ladies Community Hall.
Anna is predeceased by her parents; loving husband, Giuseppe ‘Pino’ – 1980; son, Fulvio – 1984; daughter, Rose ‘Marie’ Anthony – 2016; granddaughter, Andrea – 2014; sisters, Nina Mazzocca, Assunta Caretta; brother, Attilio Ravanello.
Anna was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Anna enjoyed the vigilant daily care by her children while at Seaview Manor, which spanned over seven years. She remained self-sufficient in her own home until the age of 95. Mom would be forever grateful to our spouses, Carole, Greg and Jim, for remaining understanding and supportive. Special mention to Hilary who gave of her time selflessly and had a unique way of making her Nona laugh.
We would like to dearly thank the healthcare staff and Dr. Ellerker of Seaview Manor for their many years of care. Also, the dietary/kitchen staff for their innovative efforts in meeting our mother's needs.
There will be no visitation for Anna. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will be in St. Eugene's Cemetery with her husband, Giuseppe. A luncheon will follow at the Italian Hall, Dominion. Family flowers only please.
