Florence May ‘Finn’ Penney

It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of our mother Florence Penney on Tuesday July 12, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Agnes (MacSween) Campbell.
She was a member of St. John’s Church, until its closure. Finn enjoyed skating and going to bingo. She was a very caring and kind person, who would help anyone in need.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Cathy (Danny) LeForte; son, Ronnie Penney (Angie), both of Glace Bay; her five grandchildren, Cheryl (Craig), Dale (Michelle), Brad (Amanda), Courtney and Kendra Penney; her precious great grandson, Linden. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara, Myrtle, and Amelia; brother-in-law, Frank; her close friend, Babe; several nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved four legged friends, Rex and Duke.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John ‘Brud’ Penney; son, Gerry Penney; sisters, Jessie and Catherine, and brothers, Stephen, Daniel, John and Ronald.
Visitation will take place Friday, July 14, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS, B1A 4X2, 902-849-4199. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with Father Norman MacPhee officiating. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery to follow.
