Eileen Lomond

Date de naissance : 12 janvier 1941

Date de décès : 12 juillet 2017

The love that we have experienced as a family is a love like no other. It molds the people who we become, it makes us strong, it keeps us close to one another and it always reminds us that the love between a mother and her children is the kind that lasts forever and that love will help take us through moving forward as we celebrate the life of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Eileen Keziah Lomond (nee Taylor) quietly slipped away and was reunited with the love of her life, our dad Harold Lomond on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's at the age of 76 years. Eileen was the daughter of the late William and Annie Taylor of Rose Blanche, she was also predeceased by her brother Gordon Taylor, brother in laws; William Green, Richard Wilkinson, Edgar (Joyce) Lomond and Solomon Lomond, sister in law Betty (Edward) Kendall. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories are her children; Paula (Randy) Penney, Stephen (Trudy) Lomond all of Torbay, NL, Dinah (Corwin) Durnford of Pasadena NL. A proud grandma, she will be sadly missed by her grandchildren; Julia, Danielle, Mackenzie, Alyssa, and Paige. She will also remain in the hearts of her siblings; Phyllis (Ron) Parsons of Rose Blanche, Elizabeth Wilkinson, William (Ruth) Taylor all of Dartmouth NS, Edna (Roy) Sheaves of Port aux Basques. She will also be fondly remembered by her in laws; Eric (May) Lomond, Howard (Alice) Lomond, Hilda Green, Mildred (Donald) Hann, Dulcie (Bert) Chaulk, Ruth (Tom) Andrews and Tryphena Lomond. Eileen played many active roles in her community, she was in the Kinnette Club and very actively involved in St. James Anglican Church. Her greatest accomplishment besides being a stay at home mother and loving wife was being the founder of the Port aux Basques Figure Skating Club in 1972, which kept her very busy, but very happy. She could be found at the arena form very early in the morning to the wee hours of the next morning, promoting the club, planning ice shows and making figure skating dresses. She was nominated for and won the CFSA National Volunteer of the Year Award and the Award of Excellence Volunteer Recognition Award. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family received friends at East Haven Funeral Home on Sunday from 7-9 pm and continued on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Eileen’s life took place on Tuesday July 18, 11 am at St. James Anglican Church, Channel officiated by Rev. Marlene Harvey, internment followed at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in memory of Eileen can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to St. James Anglican Church. Funeral arrangements were in the care of East Haven Funeral Home Inc, 57 Grand Bay Road, Port aux Basques, 695-2300. www.easthavenfuneralhome.com
