It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert Sheldon Clarke, Sr., April 29, 2017 in his home. He was 76 years old.
Born in Sydney on March 30, 1941, he was the son of the late Jack and Gertrude (Hannerhan) Clarke.
Dad worked as a police officer in Ontario for many years. He retired back in Cape Breton 15 years ago.
In his pastime, he loved to putter around the house. He was very handy at building and fixing. He was an avid hunter and fisher. He also made a lot of time for his antique car, which he enjoyed. Dad was a member of the Cursillo
Community in Cape Breton.
He is survived by wife, Margie, and children, Elaine (Craig Boden), Sandra (Donald Burke), Shelley (Gary Demareski), Kim and Robert Jr. (Joann). He is also survived by mother of children, Carol Budgen; step-children, Sue Cromwell and Bobby Turdick; siblings, Carmella, Marguerite Fedora, Raymond (Joy) and Patrick, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Marie Burrows, Madeline Baker, Karen Nelson and John; daughter, Jody Denton, and grandson, Kalab.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there was no visitation. A tree has been planted at the University of Guelph, Ontario in honour of our father.
