REEVES, Betty Carolyn – age 77, of Brazil Lake, Yarmouth Co., N.S. passed away on July 30, 2017 in Shelburne, N.S. Sadly and with many tears we say goodbye to our mom, gram, sister, aunt, and friend. This part of her journey has closed, but knowing that many have welcomed her home with open arms gives us comfort. Born in Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth Co., she was the eldest daughter of the late Ellie and Jean (Hurlburt) Bullerwell. She was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, the Brazil Lake Women’s Institute, and the Women’s Missionary Society. A long-time familiar and friendly face of the Yarmouth Farmers Market as well as the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, where she worked in admitting for 35 years. Betty loved camping in Brazil Lake and travelling to anywhere she had the opportunity to go, especially with Aunt Helen in the motor home, even if it was just to go play cards with some different scenery. She is survived by her children Heather Jean (Charles) Shaw; Flora Dolly (Kevin) Reeves; Keith Owen (Virginia) Reeves; and Cheryl Betty (Chris) Reeves; sisters, Sandra Doucette and Marilyn Donaldson; grandchildren, Clara, Megan, Jordan, Jessie, Kierstin and Annabel; great grandchildren, William, Ellie and Sophie; and well as a long extended family. Betty was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 49 years, the late William “Bill” Reeves. Betty was an amazingly loving and selfless person who will be missed by all that knew her. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday August 2, 2017 from 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny's Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Thursday August 3, 2017 at 2 P.M. from Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church, Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
