Sam Alex Diachyshyn 1936-2011
Sam Alex Diachyshyn was born Sept 19, 1936 in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan. He passed away April 14, 2011 after a very short struggle with cancer in U of A Hospital in Edmonton.
Sam was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Nellie Diaczyszyn, his son Randy Lia, brother William (Bill) Diachyshyn and sister Gloria Tweedy. Sam is survived by his loving wife Marjorie of Edmonton, daughter Yvonne (Kevin) Flottemesch of Edmonton, his son Kevin Corcoran (Alexis) of Calgary and grandchildren; Christen and Justin of Edmonton and Jordyn , Lane and Lauren of Calgary. He is also survived by his brother Mike (Emily) Diachyshyn of Regina. Sam spent most of his childhood growing up in Lafleche, Chaplin and Wood Mountain. Upon leaving high school he became a CAT operator and built roads around the Thompson Lake area and also in Prince George, BC. Sam became a long haul trucker covering most of Canada and the USA for 40 years. He drove for many companies including being an owner operator for Samuel's Trucking.
He lived in Moose Jaw for many years and then moved to Edmonton in 1995 after selling Samuel's Trucking. He remained a long haul trucker until he semi-retired in 2005. He then did local runs until he became ill in 2011.
Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and having coffee at Timmie's. He thoroughly enjoyed watching curling and the Oilers. He loved to play his accordion and play cards with whoever wanted to lose. He will be sadly missed.
