Pauline Nora O'Keefe, 83, of Amherst, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, after a brief illness. Born in Amherst, Pauline was a daughter of the late Jack and Flossie (Amon) Gould.
Pauline was very active and enjoyed dancing, walking, biking, playing darts and bowling. She was an avid card player. She loved the outdoors and would frequent Northport Beach whenever possible. She cared deeply for all animals.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Pauline will be sadly missed by six daughters, Darlene (Jack) Harrison, Amherst, Marilyn O'Keefe, Amherst, Nancy O'Keefe, Pugwash, Deborah O'Keefe, Amherst, Brenda O'Keefe and partner Tony Arsenault, Saint John and Rose O'Keefe, Amherst; five grandchildren, John, Barbie, Mark, Brandon, and Scott; seven great grandchildren, Shelby-Lyn, Dylan, Olivia, Alexis, Alysse, Nova-Leigh, and Audrey; one sister, Amelia LeBlanc, Amherst; one brother, Donald (Kay) Gould, North Carolina, as well as one niece and two nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William "Bill" O'Keefe and a son in infancy.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777) from where a time of visitation will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place at First Baptist Church, Amherst, on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 2 pm with interment to follow in the Amherst Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Pauline may be made to Arthritis Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society of NS or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
