MacKenzie, Glendyn Eric – It is with profound sadness that the family of Glendyn Eric MacKenzie, 56, of Pleasant Valley announces his passing on Monday, September 4, 2017, in the Halifax Infirmary QE11, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Foster and Nina (Staples) MacKenzie.
Glen is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judi (MacDonald); daughter, Janica (John), Lower Sackville; brothers, Foster (Dorcas), Porters Lake; Marty, Truro; Randy (Charlene), Truro; Greg, Calgary; sister, Kelly (Mike) Crowe, East Mountain; half-sisters, Ann (Winston) Langille, Deanna (Harry) Fancy; mother-in-law, Jeanetta MacDonald; brother-in-law, Charles (Rhonda) MacDonald; numerous nieces and nephews. Glen loved his many Pleasant Valley friends like family.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law, William MacDonald.
Glen was a bread salesman from an early age working with Bens and later with Wonder Bread. Most recently he was employed at LaFarge Canada, Brookfield. Glen was known for his friendly personality, whistling while he worked, and he always took pride in doing a great job, no matter what the task. His love of family, friends and fun were so important to him. He loved sharing a laugh and a beer with his friends and family at home, in his garage, and during card games at the hunting and fishing camps. He treasured his summers at the family cottage at Brule Beach.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 14, at 4 p.m., in Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Pleasant Valley. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Glen after the service at his home and the camp in Pleasant Valley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Pleasant Valley Cemetery Company or Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Hilden.
