Helen Page

Helen (Olmstead) Page passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011. Born in Wicklow, NB on November 15, 1919, Helen was the daughter of Mary (McCready) and Herbert Olmstead. She was the wife of James Page, who predeceased her in 2007. They lived on the family farm in Williamstown for 64 years. An active community member, she organized the 1st Centreville Girl Guide Company and went on to be the District Commissioner. For many years she taught school, held offices in Eastern Star and was strong supporter of her local church. She had an avid interest in genealogy and was a founding member of the Olmstead Family Association. After retirement Helen and James loved spending time square dancing, travelling and relaxing at the camp on Davidson Lake. They loved sharing stories about their 22 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and their seven children: Gladys Neilsen, (the late Winston), James (Ruth), Herbert (Nellie), Lois (Jim) McLellan, Leon (Nancy), Margaret (Tom) Sterner, and Mura (Rick) Toner. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Riverside Court and the Upper River Valley Hospital, as well as to Dr. Anderson, for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home 337 Lockhart Mill Road Jacksonville on Wednesday, April 20 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A service celebrating her life will be held at The Carleton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April 21, at 2 PM. Interment will be in the Centreville United Church Cemetery. Donation can be made to St. Paul’s United Church, the Eastern Star Scholarship Fund or the charity of donor’s choice.
