It is with great sadness that the family of Philip Gerard Burke age 63 of Amherst announce his passing on Saturday, September 9, 2017 surround by his loving family at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan.
Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late Arthur “Pat” and Sadie (Devine) Burke.
Phil was an electrician by trade and owned his own company “Phil’s Electric” for many years. Later in life, Phil opened a new a chapter working with the Cobequid Housing Authority as an electrician with his buddy Eddy Doucette where they were fondly known as “the best crossword technicians this town has ever seen”. Recently, Philip retired and pursued his true passions in life such as golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and taking the occasional nap. Philip enjoyed any time spent with his friends and family because they were truly his world.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter Molly (Jason) Little; son Cale; grandchildren Kody and Charlotte; partner Jean Brundage; brother in-law Greg (Denise) Smith; mother in-law Evelyn Smith and many cousins.
Philip will also be fondly remembered by many dear friends that became the family that he chose for himself.
Besides his parent, Philip was predeceased by his wife Lynda (Smith) and special aunt Edith Burke.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, NS, 902-667-9906.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Donnie Miller officiating.
