Date de naissance : 13 octobre 1953

Date de décès : 11 septembre 2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished husband, father, grandfather (Pop), brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Douglas Edward Taylor Jackman (Doug). Doug passed away at home, on September 11, 2017, in the loving arms of his family, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Doug faced his illness with courage, strength, and dignity, and without complaint. He was only ever concerned for those around him. Doug, or Jake to some, was a simple man, who enjoyed the simple things in life. Offer him the choice between a vacation in Jamaica, or just spending time with his family, and without hesitation, he would choose his family. Doug was a protective, loyal and dedicated family man. He radiated a sense of calm and serenity, which was immediately understood by all those who knew him. He saw the good in everyone, and was able to make all those who met him feel comfortable, special and accepted. Doug was truly all that "Good" defined. He will be forever remembered and adored for his selflessness and kindness, his relentless wit, and his unyielding integrity. We were so very blessed to have had him in our lives. Doug was born and raised in St. John's, Newfoundland, the oldest son of Marie and Gerry Jackman. As a young boy and man, he excelled in everything he did. He married Lynn, the love of his life, in 1978 and they had two wonderful sons, Paul and Doug. Then came his four adored grandchildren, and Pop did truly live for, adore and enjoy his four grandchildren. Doug worked with Newfoundland Power for 39 years, where he was highly regarded and respected by all those he worked with. His work ethic was unmatched and he was known as the go-to guy. He had retired in recent years to spend time with his family and to be a full-time Pop. But that was not to be ... and he was taken from us far too soon. Doug leaves to mourn his loving wife of 46 years, Lynn; his cherished sons Paul (Jenna) and Douglas (Sarah); adored grandchildren Taylor, Mason, Van and Mia; his devoted siblings Gerry (also best buddy), Susan (Brian) and Bob; brothers and sisters-in-law Natasha (Paulie), Roland (Mary), Judy (Mike), Doris (Ed), George (Colleen), Derrick, Eddie, Liz, Dawn, Susan (Ern), Debbie (Barry), and Florance (Stuart); his nieces and nephews Ryan, Matthew, Brielle, Bronwyn, Alexander, Christopher, Melanie, Jason, Kyle, Sean, Jason, Chris, Jeff, Joanie, Brad, Nicole, Steve, Wanda, Bobby, Kenny, Danielle, Jennifer, Jeanette, Brandon, Elwood, Dennis, Gus, Andrew, Kevin, Justin, Tyler, Tina, Amy and Riley; his aunt Noreen; his cousins Sharon and Dave; and his many special friends. Doug is now in the loving arms of his parents Marie and Gerry, his baby brother Paulie (Will), parents-in-law Susie and George, and dear friends Jim K., Paul A., Peter H. Be at peace sweet sweet Doug. You have left behind an afterglow of smiles and happy memories. The family would like to extend special thank-yous to brother Ger, who spent most nights hanging out with Doug and Lynn, since Doug got ill, and to daughters-in-law Jenna, who helped guide and bring comfort to Doug through those final hours, and to Sarah who promised Doug she would take care of his babies. Thank you to all the neighbors, friends and co-workers, who were there for us when our hearts were broken; who comforted us, did errands and fed us, and made us laugh; and who spent time with Doug, chatting, laughing, and reminiscing, especially Smitty, Levi, Doris and Ed M. ,Ed E., John, Harry, Kathy, Daphne and Mario, and Louise. Thank you to Dr. Neil Manning, for his truly compassionate care, and to nurse Sharon Nurse, who Doug fondly called "Nurse Nurse". Visitation for Doug will be held on Wednesday, September 13, Thursday, September 14, and Friday, September 15, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl. A celebration of Doug's life will take place on Saturday, September 16 at 10 am, at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 110 Ashford Drive, Mt. Pearl. Flowers accepted, or please donate to the Children's Wish Foundation. Please visit www.barretts.ca to sign the memorial guest book.

Sleep tight my angel.
Love always, Lynn
