Edward Gregory

Date de décès : 11 septembre 2017

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Edward David Gregory on September 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Ed was born February 28, 1937 in Chaplin, SK to Steve and Anne Gregory. Ed is predeceased by brothers William, Orest, Rudolph; sisters-in-law Kay, Ruth and Dot; and nephews Edward, Larry, Steve and Troy. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Merrill, sister Helen, wife Blanche; children, Janice (Ron) Kissick, Rick McDonough, Sean (Trudy) McDonough, Patricia (Duane) Vercammen, TJ (Kim) McDonough, Kelly (John) Single; many nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and special little buddy Sean K. Ed was a world traveller and had many adventures. After high school he joined the Canadian Navy and graduated as an Ordinary Seaman. The Canadian government, in their great wisdom, decided the Navy was too big so they downsized 10,000 people. Ed was one of them. He then returned to Moose Jaw where he worked for McCaslin TV installing TV antennas. Ed joined the Army Reserve in 1954, the 20th Saskatchewan Armoured Division. From January 1956 to December 22, 1959 Ed was in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he specialized in electronics as a radio communication technician. His next job took him to the DEW line for 16 years as a radar and communications technician. After serving on the DEW line Ed worked for the CPR in telecommunications and won an award as a microwave technician. The next adventure took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 1980 to 1984 where Ed worked for Lockheed Aircraft International as an instructor. When he returned to Canada, he returned to the CPR where he worked until his retirement. Ed met his wife Blanche in Moose Jaw and took her away to Larnaca, Cyprus where they lived for two years and were married January 28, 1991. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W, Moose Jaw, SK. A time of fellowship will take place immediately after the service followed by an interment at Rosedale Cemetery. Thank you God for such a great man. Thank you to Home Care staff, Dr. AJ Van Heerden, all of his friends but especially those who visited and gave rides to doctor appointments and beer call. Thank you to Lena at Pharmasave, delivery man Paul and all of Ed's family for their support. In lieu of flowers donation to the Royal Canadian Legion Moose Jaw Branch 59 Poppy Fund, 268 High St. W, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 1S8.
