Daniel Ernest Purvis (June 7, 1966)
Our brother, Dan, has completed his journey here on earth, and is back in the arms of our parents in the great beyond. He died on September 14, 2017 at the Hants Community Hospital, at age 51, after a short battle with cancer. Dan was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, the first born of Ernest and Yolande (Long) Purvis. He is predeceased by his father, "Ernie" (May 2015), and his mother "Yogi" (May 2016) of Falmouth, NS. Also predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Grace A. Purvis; his maternal grandparents, Harry and Twylla (Poole) Long; uncles, Harry Long Jr. and Garwin Purvis; aunts Joyce Ripley (Purvis) and Marie Nogler (Purvis); cousin, Nancy Parker; his baby niece, Sophia Marie Purvis. He is survived by his sister, Jodi Purvis and brother-in-law Larry Bezanson, of Windsor, NS; his brother, Chris Purvis and sister-in-law Brandie (LeBlanc) Purvis, of Fredericton, NB; his 3 beloved nephews, Zachary, Adam and Ryan; uncle, Michael (Anne) Long, Denbigh, ON; aunt, Bonnie (Randy) Cameron, Atlanta, GA and many cousins. Dan spent the last months of his life at Hants Community Hospital. There, he was given the utmost of care, respect and compassion. He considered the people who cared for him and came in contact with him like "family" and this gave him great comfort and joy. Dan's family (Jodi & Chris) will be forever thankful to the doctors, nurses, support staff (Unit 200, Unit 500 and Emergency Dept) and all who are a part of the HCH family for making the last leg of his journey enjoyable, respectful, comfortable and heart felt for him. A special thank you to Amber (Palliative Care), Colleen (Social Work) and Darren (Security) for your special roles in Dan's stay at HCH. Cremation has taken place under the care of the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Box 2218 Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. A graveside was held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2017 in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery. Celebrant Helen Lindsay officiated.
