In her 89th year, Annie Noonan of Charlottetown, PE and formerly of Albany P.E., passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017 due to complications from a hip fracture which she suffered in early August,2017. She was the mother of Basil (Heather) Sherry, Ida Noonan (Shane Boswall), Jane (Ian) Robinson and JoAnne (Grant) Jay. Grandma (aka Gam) to Shanna (Jason)Burns and their children Corson and Charleigh; Adam (Dawn) Sherry and their children Brandon and Calvin; Jordan Sherry, Lyndsay Sherry, Lauryn Sherry, Lacey (Curtis) Gallant, Emily Parker and her children Randi-Lynn and Charlee; Ben Parker, Liam Jay, Isaac Jay and Kerry Jay. Annie married Ellsworth Noonan (d. 1995) on her birthday July 25, 1951. They resided in Albany with her mother on the family farm until they built their own home also on her father’s land. She resided there until her move to Charlottetown in 2010. She was the eldest daughter of Basil (d.1950) and Mary (Cusack d. 1989) Sherry. She is survived by her sisters, Lorraine (Philip) Noonan, Frances (Louis d.2008) McCourt, Helena (Reginald) Hamill and her sister-in-law Dorothy Sherry. Annie was predeceased by her siblings, Leonard Sherry (d.1949), Mabel (d.2003) Robert (d.1991) Carmichael, Dorothy Sherry (d.1934), Bernice Sherry (d.1948) and Raymond Sherry (d.2014). She was also predeceased by Ellsworth’s parents, James (d.1965) and Ida (McBride d.1934), sister Esther (d.2007) Fred (d.1973) Kelly, and brothers Lorne (d.1986) Mary (d. 1980) Noonan and Hensley Noonan (d.1966). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She had many roles in her life. These included being hostess to all her family and friends from near and far, school teacher, 4-H Leader, involved community member, CWL and faithful Christian. Her most important role was the one closest to her heart, being a mother. Unable to conceive, she adopted her four children and never faltered in her support, belief in them and everlasting love. They were her children in all ways and were blessed to have her as their mother. Her family will miss her wit, her advice, both solicited and unsolicited, grammar and speling (oops mom) spelling corrections, her fun moments and the singing of Happy Birthday. She truly was loved a million tons barrels. Visitation at Kinkora Place, Kinkora on Friday, September 29th from 6-9 p.m. with prayers by the CWL at 5:45 p.m. Funeral mass is to be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay, on Saturday, September 30th at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in the parish cemetery. If so desired, donations in Annie’s memory may be made to her foster child through Plan International or The Upper Room. Arrangements are entrusted to Lawless Funeral Home Kinkora.
