It is with great sadness, the family of Alex MacPherson announce his passing, at the age of 76, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at home.
Born and raised in Reserve Mines, he was a son of the late Neil George and Katherine (MacIntyre) MacPherson.
Alex’ passion in life was his family; he enjoyed the simple life such as sports, fishing, walking and spending time with his pals. Alex worked as a roofer for over 30 years. He also proudly served his Country in the Canadian Armed Forces, and he served overseas.
Alex will be dearly missed by his three children, Sharon (Stanley Wadden), with whom he resided, James and Stephen (Crystal), both of Glace Bay; three cherished grandchildren, Shawn, Kayla and Tyler; sister, Annie Mae MacDonald; many other relatives and close friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Barbara (nee Matheson), brothers, Daniel, Angus, Joseph, Archie, Sylvester and Malcolm, sisters, Georgina Murphy, Margaret Walters and Leona Yates.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home. There will be no visitation; and a private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
