Marguerite “Chickie” Toney age 65 of Pictou Landing First Nation passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget (Martin) Toney.
She was a resident of Pictou Landing all her life where she was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children Lisa (Morris) Toney, Waycobah; Shannon Toney, Waycobah; Darryl (Mary) Toney, Pictou Landing; Tammy Toney, Pictou Landing; Joey Toney, Pictou Landing; C.J. Toney, Pictou Landing; chosen daughter Maryann Francis, Pictou Landing; 10 grandchildren; sisters Barbara (John) Prosper, Mary “Mye” Francis and Alice Francis, all of Pictou Landing; several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph D. Francis, 2 infant daughters Sandra and Denise, sisters Virginia, Susie, Lorretta, brother Joseph.
Her remains will rest in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Pictou Landing after 7 pm on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 and all day Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom MacNeil Presiding. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Fund.
