CREELMAN, Ronald Edward “Ron” – 70, Hilden, Colchester County. It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Ronald Edward “Ron” Creelman, at home, surrounded by family, after a brief but very courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Ron was born in Brookfield, Colchester County, and was the son of the late C. Edward and Nathalie (Crockett) Creelman. Ron was a graduate of Maritime Forest Ranger School in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He spent his career at Brookfield Lumber where he ran a lumber mill, building supply store, woodlands and blueberry operations. He started as a young man in the family business, doing whatever needed to be done, and continued with that same philosophy through 36 years running the company. He was a smart and unassuming businessman, facing and overcoming many challenges over the course of his career. He loved to work, especially in the woods. Ron enjoyed the simple things in life, but his greatest loves were his wife and family. To his grandchildren, he was known as “Bamp”. They made him smile (and worry), and meant the world to him; he remembered every funny thing they said or did. He loved to tease and make us all laugh, or roll our eyes, and he enjoyed puttering around the cottage at Parlee Beach, campfires with the grandchildren and adventures with Susan. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan (Dalrymple); his daughters, Jan Johnson and Margo (Darcy) Merryweather; six grandchildren, Ben, Kate and Luke Johnson and Matthew, Sarah and Peter Merryweather; sister, Lynne (Larry) Kennedy and family. There will be a celebration of Ron’s life from 2-5 p.m., Thursday October 5, 2017, at Best Western Glengarry (MacDonald Room), 150 Willow Street, Truro.
