With sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Greg Eldridge of New Waterford, on September 29, 2017, at the Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, October 21, 1955, he was the son of Roderick and the late Leona (Cashin), both of New Waterford.
For many years Greg was organist at St. Ignatius the Martyr parish in Ottawa. He received a letter of thank you for 30 years of service signed from Pope Benedict XVI. Greg was a librarian for the Department of Agriculture Canada.
He loved antiquing and coming home to Cape Breton every year.
He is survived by sisters, Maureen, Nancy and Patricia (Donald); brothers, Robert (Wendy), Ronald and Donald; sister-in-law, Melinda; many nieces and nephews; good friend, Austin DeCoste, and many friends and family in Cape Breton and Ottawa.
Besides his mother, he was predeceased by twin sister, Rose Genevieve; brothers, Joe and Gordie; brother-in-law, Vessy; grandparents, Joe and Matilda Cashin, and Jack and Mary Eldridge.
Cremation has taken place. A service will be held at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, N.S. at 1 p.m. Friday with Deacon Leo Penney officiating. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford. A luncheon will follow at St. Agnes Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
