It is with heavy hearts that the family of L. Esther Greeno age 87, of Amherst and formerly of Lorneville, announce her passing on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Lorneville, NS she was a daughter of the late Logan and Florence (Black) Chapman of Amherst Shore.
Esther grew up on a farm and was a farmer most of her life, with the exception of a few years working at Smiths/Pridhams Studio and Zellers. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 18, Amherst and also was a member of the Lorneville United Church.
Esther enjoyed dancing, camping and a good game of cards.
She is survived by daughters, Kathy (Ian) MacCalder of Orangedale, Cape Breton and Sylvia (Ron) Cormier of Bowmanville, ON and son Cecil of Sunbury, NB and brother Richard of Anagance, NB. Esther is also survived by stepdaughters, Jeanne (Eric) MacGlashen of Tidnish and Sharon Greeno of Vancouver, BC, stepsons Peter (Marsha) Greeno and Eric Greeno both of Lorneville, NS, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her husband Roy, 2 sons, Carl and Richard and sister in law Donna.
A celebration of Esther’s life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906)
Interment will take place at a later date in the Lorneville Cemetery.
