Brian Gregory McNeil passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2009 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family.
Born in Glace Bay, Brian was the son of the late Angus and Elizabeth (MacMullin) McNeil. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Brian worked for Family Windows & Doors and also worked for Modern Aluminum for more than 25 years. Brian loved to work, read and plant flowers around the house.
Brian is survived by his wife, the former Sharon MacDonald; son, BJ (Danielle Reid) McNeil, Glace Bay and daughter, Kim (Aaron) Pogson, Calgary, AB. Also surviving are two brothers, John Q. (Sharon) McNeil and David McNeil; two sisters, Miriam (Merle) England, Betty (Emery) Laidlaw; four grandchildren, Halen, Lacey, Makenna and Madison; two nieces, Coleen and Suzanne and one nephew, Sean.
Brian was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Mathias and a nephew, John.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, Fr. Andrew Gillies officiating, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Reception to follow in the parish hall.
The McNeil family also want to thank the palliative care unit and the VON nurses who cared for Brian.
