Mary Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ MacDonald 78, of Lorway Street, Glace Bay passed away peacefully surrounded by family Friday, October 20, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
Born August 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ronald ‘Rannie’ and Catherine (Katie, nee Spencer) Gillis, and wife of the late James Angus MacDonald.
Jackie was a member of Holy Cross and St. Anthony’s Parish Church.
Jackie MacDonald is survived by her three sons, Kevin (Mary Ellen), Trenton, ON, Kent, Glace Bay and Leo (Christine), Atlanta, GA; sister, Bernice (Leo) MacDonald, Antigonish; brothers, Clement (Alice) Gillis, Glace Bay and Sheldon (Florence) Gillis, Toronto, ON, and grandchildren, Katie, Kevin, Aaron and Megan.
Besides her parents, Jackie is predeceased by her brothers, Allister J. Gillis and Rannie Gillis (in infancy).
A private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney NS in Jackie’s name.
