Sadly, the family of Constance Lauretta Barteaux announces her passing at Orchard Court (Shannex), Kentville on October 23, 2017. Born in Wharton, Cumberland County on March 23, 1916, she was the eldest child of the late Albert and Carrie (Jenks) Graham. As a graduate of the N.S. Normal (Teacher's) College, she taught in several schools in Annapolis County. Lauretta and her late husband, Alton Barteaux, were long-time residents of Mount Hanley where she was active in the community and in particular, the Mount Hanley United Baptist Church. She served as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher and Baby Band leader as well as being involved in community Bible Studies and the Women's Missionary Society. She assisted her husband in developing the Mount Hanley School House Museum. Also, she was a past member of the Macdonald Museum Historical Society. Surviving are daughter, Connie Veinotte, New Minas, grandchildren Lori-ann (Michael) Esser, Calgary and Paul (Nicole) Veinotte, Port Williams; great-grandchildren Grace and Mason Veinotte and Luke Esser; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by son, Graham, son-in-law Dennis Veinotte and her brothers and their spouses Harris (Mary) and Clayton (Irene) Graham. The funeral service was held at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 on Thursday, October 26th at 1pm with Rev. John Beers officiating. The family received family and friends at a reception following the service. Interment was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Diligent River Baptist Church, the Mount Hanley School House Museum, Pine Grove Cemetery or charity of choice.
