It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lewis Richard Mitchell age 71 of Amherst announce his passing on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst.
Born in Parrsboro, he was the son of the late Raymond and Vilda (Forbes) Mitchell of Joggins, NS.
Lewis enjoyed life to the fullest. His passions were clamming, fishing, hunting, dulsing, playing cards, darts, bowling, crocheting afghans, member of the 50’s club and spending as much time as possible with his grandsons in Calgary, AB.
Lewis will be missed by his son Neil (Holly); grandsons Wesley and Ryan; sisters Libby Henwood (Allison) and Pat (Herman) Landry; brothers Jerry (Barbara) and Neil (Darlene); special aunt Hazel Parsons, as well as many nieces, nephews and very close friends.
Besides his parents, Lewis was predeceased by brothers Aubrey, Frankie and Hughie.
A celebration of Lewis’s life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 2 – 8 p.m. at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906.
Donations can be made in Lewis’s memory to The Canadian Paraplegic Association (Nova Scotia).
