Ripley, Louise Lillian – 79, Port Howe, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in Nappan, she was a daughter of the late George and Blanche (Smith) Newcombe. Louise was a member of the Calvary United church, Port Howe; the U.C.W.; the Port Howe “Women Helping Others”; the musical group “Mixed Relations”, which sang at local nursing homes and was a former member of the Riverside Red Cross. She was like a mother to many neighbor children and spent many hours babysitting. She was employed at Chase’s Lobster Pound for 14 years. Louise loved to quilt, (over the years had made more than 100 ); and she also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays play ball. Surviving is her loving husband of 60 years, J. Burton Ripley; sons, Burton Rockwell “Rocky” (Debra) Ripley, Amherst; Micah Joe Ripley, Port Howe, Stoney Allen Ripley (Cheryl), Salem; daughters, Cheryl Ann (Terry) Angus and Carol Ann Ripley, all of Halifax; grandchildren, Sarah, Moira, Joshua and Ashley Ripley; great-grandchild, Peyton Ripley; sister, Charlotte (Aubrey) Boss, Amherst; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers, George, Carl and Robert Newcombe; sister, Beverley MacDonald. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Calvary United Church, Port Howe. Rev. Meggin King officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Open Hamper Food Bank, Pugwash. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash
