Rose Cowan

Date de décès : 5 novembre 2017

Rose Ann Cowan (née Tysdal), born April 21st, 1927 in Mossbank, SK passed away peacefully at the Dr FH Wigmore Regional Hospital in Moose Jaw, SK on Sunday, November 5th, 2017 with her family by her side. She was raised on a small farm on the shores of Old Wives Lake, 6 miles from Mossbank during the "depression years". Rose taught school at Mazenod, Fife Lake, Dunkirk, Weyburn and Moose Jaw. She taught special education classes and was supervising teacher for Teachers-In-Training. Rose married Glen Cowan in 1949 and together they built and operated 2 motels in Moose Jaw, the Dreamland and the Downtown Motor Lodge. She also enjoyed helping with Glen’s farm operation. Rose and Glen shared many interests, particularly square dancing, music and golf. They spent many summers at Buffalo Pound Lake and 18 winters at their winter home in Mesa, Arizona. Her family always came first and she always supported her grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. Rose loved life, her friends, homemaking, gardening, travel (which included some overseas trips and cruises), playing the guitar and yodelling, bridge and crossword puzzles. She had a green thumb and had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens on the farm and at the lake. Rose was a wonderful cook and baker. She belonged to the P.E.O. in Moose Jaw and enjoyed the companionship of all the ladies in the club. She organized and helped out at the P.E.O. roast beef dinners held at the Heritage Hotel each fall to raise money for Parkinsons. One of the highlights of her life was achieving her Life Masters in duplicate bridge with her daughter Sheryl while they had fun travelling to many tournaments collecting the gold points needed to achieve this honour. Rose was a very good bridge player, teaching for many years and also playing with a lot of the beginner players, teaching them the game. She enjoyed doing things for others and would brighten up someone else’s day by taking over some baking, a home cooked meal, flowers she had received or grew in her garden, and always shared an abundance of vegetables from her garden. Rose enjoyed celebrating her 90th birthday with family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Glen; parents, Agnes and Otto; sister, Mary; brother, John; in laws, Harold and Mary Cowan; brother-in-law, Lloyd; sister-in-law, Jean Cowan; and nephew, Garth Cowan. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her children: Cal (Debbie) Cowan and Sheryl (Albert) Roesch; grandchildren: Matthew Cowan, Jason (Jen) Cowan and their children Cash and Frankie, Josie (Scott) MacDonald and their children Rio and Casey, and Jenilee and Brittany Roesch; nephew, Allan Warnke; and sister-in-law, Penny Cowan and her daughter DeLee, all of B.C. We would like to thank all the staff at Chez Nous for the great care over the years that they gave to our Mom. It is greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Nancy who did so many extra things for our Mom. Also a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful doctors and caring nurses at the hospital who helped Mom with her final journey. In keeping with Rose's wishes, a Private Family Service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
